Parks and Recreation offering meals for keiki through federal Summer Food Service Program
Hawai‘i County Department of Parks and Recreation is participating in the 2026 U.S. Department of Agriculture Summer Food Service Program.
The program makes nutritious meals available to keiki 18 years old and younger — at no charge — during the summer break between school years.

Meals will be provided Monday through Friday, June 8-July 17, at the following sites:
- Kawānanakoa Gym, 156 Baker Ave., Hilo.
- Pana‘ewa Gym, 100 ʻOhuʻohu St., Hilo.
- Pu‘u‘eo Community Center, 145 Wainaku St., Hilo.
- Hilo Armory, 35 Wailuku St., Hilo.
- Andrews Gym, 33 W. Kawailani St., Hilo.
- Gilbert Carvalho Park, 850 Waiānuenue Ave, Hilo.
- Waiākea Uka Gym, 1200 ʻĀinaola Drive, Hilo.
- Pāpa‘ikou Gym, 27-228 Maluna Place, Pāpa‘ikou.
- William “Billy” Kenoi District Park, 15-2910 Kauhale St., Pāhoa.
- Kea‘au Armory, 16-512 Volcano Road, Kea‘au.
- Richardson Ocean Center, 2349 Kalanianaʻole Ave., Hilo.
- Kekuaokalani Gym, 75-5500 Kuakini Highway, Kailua-Kona.
- Hale Hālāwai Community Center, 75-5670 Ali‘i Drive, Kailua-Kona.
Children in Summer Fun programs at these sites also will have the opportunity to receive meals.
In addition, children who are not participating in Summer Fun can receive meals at the above sites by calling the facilities by 8 a.m. to ensure the program will serve meals that day and place an order.
Sites will be closed on Kamehameha Day, June 11, and July 3 in observance of Independence Day. Meals also will not be served on excursion days.
No vendors submitted bids to provide meals at the other nine Summer Fun sites.
Hawai‘i Department of Education is also participating in the Summer Food Service Program and offers meals at many schools in Hawai‘i County.
