Hawaiʻi Police Department Chief Reed Mahuna will host the informal talk story session from 4 to 5 p.m. Friday, May 29, in the Aupuni Center Conference Room, located at 101 Pauahi St.

The free sessions are aimed at strengthening communication and connection between police leadership and the community.

They rotate around the Big Island, providing residents an opportunity to meet directly with Mahuna and district commanders to share concerns, ask questions and discuss public safety issues in an open, conversational setting.

Intentionally informal, the talk story format reflects the department’s goal of being accessible and responsive to the community.

Community members are encouraged to attend and participate.

Next month’s “Talk Story with the Chief” is scheduled June 23 at Kea‘au Community Center. Time to be determined.
