WATCH: Disney’s reimagined ‘Moana’ sails exclusively into theaters this July
Audiences this summer will find out how far she’ll go when Disney blows reimagined, live-action wind into Moana’s sails as she again sets out on her epic journey.
You can now get a sneak peek of the voyage in a new trailer and poster for the upcoming highly anticipated version of “Moana,” starring Catherine Lagaʻaia as the wayfinding title heroine and Dwayne Johnson reprising his role from the beloved animated film as trickster demigod Maui.
The “Moana” cast also includes John Tui as Moana’s no-nonsense father, Chief Tui; Frankie Adams, who portrays Moana’s playful and strong-willed mother, Sina; and Rena Owen as Moana’s revered Gramma Tala.
A special “Artistry of Moana” featurette is also now available, offering a special behind-the-scenes look at the making of the live-action “Moana,” with commentary from Johnson, Lagaʻaia, Emmy and Tony Award-winning director Thomas Kail, costume designer Liz McGregor and choreographer Tiana Nonosina Liufau.
Disney’s reimagining of the Oscar-nominated animated adventure is produced by Johnson, Dany Garcia, Beau Flynn, Hiram Garcia and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Executive producers are by Kail, Scott Sheldon, Charles Newirth and Auliʻi Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the animated Disney films “Moana” and “Moana 2.”
The upcoming new version of “Moana” features original songs by Miranda, Opetaia Foaʻi and Mark Mancina, and an original score composed by Mancina.
It won’t be too much longer before Moana and her friends launch their ocean adventure.
Audiences can experience the brilliant cinematic sights, sounds and songs of “Moana” on July 10 exclusively in theaters.
