3 men arrested following firearms incident near Kailua-Kona residence
Hawai‘i Island police arrested three men the afternoon of March 3 following a report of gunshots heard near a Kailua-Kona residence.

Police responded at 1:36 p.m. Tuesday to a report of gunshots coming from a residence located in the 75-5000 block of Queen Ka‘ahumanu Highway.
Officers located three men upon arrival at the residence. A preliminary investigation indicated firearms were discharged outside the residence, possibly as part of target practice or similar recreational shooting.
The residence is located in close proximity to a school and numerous homes in a nearby subdivision.
All three men were arrested on suspicion of second-degree reckless endangering as a result of the investigation.
Police determined there is no active threat to the school or surrounding community. The investigation remains ongoing.
