Water restriction effective until further notice for customers in South Kohala – Lālamilo area

Hawai’i County Department of Water Supply reports a 25% water restriction is effective immediately — and until further notice — for the South Kohala – Lalamilo area on the Big Island.

Affected areas include:

  • Kawaihae.
  • Kawaihae Harbor.
  • Hāpuna Beach Resort.
  • Mauna Kea Beach Resort.
  • Puakō.
  • Mauna Lani Resort.

Hawai‘i County Department of Water residential customers in the South Kohala – Lalamilo area are required to reduce their water use by at least 25%.

Irrigation customers are required to reduce use by at least 50%.

These restrictions were implemented because of unexpected well and equipment malfunctions. Reducing use is necessary to maintain adequate water levels in storage tanks to service all customers in the affected area.

Hawai‘i County Department of Water Supply asks customers to use water wisely and not waste it.
