Super Guide for where to watch today’s Big Game
It’s a question asked every year: “Where is a good place to watch the Super Bowl?”
Likely any bar, restaurant, lounge, taproom or other food and/or drink establishment will have the Big Game plastered on all of its screens today.

People on social media offered several specific places to go such as Alibi Tavern in Kea‘au, Cronies Bar & Grill in Hilo, Kaleo’s Bar & Grill in Pahoa and Orchidland and Wailuku Brew Works in Shipman Business Park between Hilo and Kea‘au.
There’s also Hilo Burger Joint and Pineapples in downtown Hilo.
Plenty of options are available if you’re on the Kona side, too.
Social media users suggested Ola Brew, Dolphin Spit Saloon, Quinn’s, Laverne’s and Oceans Sports Bar and Grill. Korner Pocket in Kealakekua was also mentioned, and another person said Kona Canoe Club.
One commenter said “probably any bar,” while another simply said “TV.”
Adria Smith, replying to a post in the Big Island Recommendations and Reviews group on Facebook, said she’s been able to watch the Big Game several times from the pool lobby or even beach at the resort where she was staying.
“Question is, who has electric power today?” asked Cindy Waiau Matus in a reply to a post in the Hilo Happenings group on Facebook asking about Big Game venues.
The weather is probably on many people’s minds today as they gear up to head out to their Super Sunday destinations. Several communities were affected by power outages already Saturday night (Feb. 7) before winds are forecast to strengthen later today and prior to most of the rain associated with a passing winter storm started to fall over the Big Island.
Jennifers Huakai offered some good advice overall for people who haven’t heard about a specific place having the game on or being open with power.
“If you need to confirm, call the place you’re thinking of attending to make sure they’re open!” replied Huakai.
In an attempt to help answer the annual “where to watch” question, we put together the following list — in no specific order — of more organized Super Bowl events and parties happening today at quite a few venues around the island.

Pre-game with plants
Plants don’t normally get a spotlight during most Super Bowl festivities, unless its the turf on the field or the lettuce, onion, tomato and other common “plant” ingredients for many popular Big Game party dishes.

The Super Bowl Sunday Plant Sale in Leilani Estates is bucking the trend; at least until noon, so you shouldn’t miss kickoff if you attend.
More details:
- Where is the sale? Leilani Estates pavilion/park, located at 13-3441 Moku St.
- What’s on sale? Lots of beautiful heliconia, palms, hoya, vireya, orchids, aroids, anthuriums and more to choose from, as well as exotics you won’t typically find in Big Box stores.
- Goodies you can take home for the game or Valentine’s Day: J&K Chocolates will have chocolate bars for sale. Wai Pepe Goodies will have infused honey for sale.
We likely didn’t find all of the super spots to catch the Big Game today, but hopefully this gives you a good start.
No matter where you go, however, have a ton of fun and be safe. Remember: Fans don’t let other fans drive under the influence.
