Effective immediately and until further notice, the Hawaiʻi Department of Water Supply has downgraded its ʻWater Restriction Noticeʻ to a ʻWater Conservation Noticeʻ for customers in South Kohala.

The conservation notice applies to Department of Water Supply customers in Kawaihae, Kawaihae Harbor, Hapuna Beach Resort, Mauna Kea Beach Resort, Puakō, and Mauna Lani Resort.

Under the notice, customers are asked to reduce water use by at least 10 percent.

The water department urges residents and businesses to conserve drinking water, use it efficiently, and avoid unnecessary waste as system conditions continue to stabilize.
