Governor releases $450K in grant funds for Boys & Girls Club youth center upgrades

Big Island state Sen. Lorraine Inouye, who represents state Senate District 1 (Hilo, Paukaʻa, Papaʻikou, Pepeʻekeo) announced that Hawaiʻi Gov. Josh Green released $450,000 in capital improvement program grant-in-aid funds in support of an improvement project at Boys & Girls Club of the Big Island Youth Resource Center in Hilo.

The funding will be used for construction, improvements and maintenance at the youth resource center, helping ensure a safe and supportive space for keiki and families in East Hawaiʻi.

“I thank Gov. Green and his administration for releasing these funds to support our youth and strengthen an important community resource,” said Inouye in announcing the funding.

The senator’s announcement added that the project reflects the state’s continued commitment to investing in community infrastructure and building a stronger, more sustainable future for Hawaiʻi Island.
