Have some Summer Fun: Apply to work with Hawaiʻi County for upcoming keiki programs

Hawai‘i County Department of Parks and Recreation is now accepting employment applications for temporary positions to work during the 2026 Summer Fun Program.

The program provides healthy, safe and fun recreational activities at sites throughout the county for children and teens during summer break.

Available positions are activity aide I, which pays $17.50 per hour, and activity aide II, with an hourly wage of $19 per hour.

To be considered for employment, applicants must:

  • Possess current first aid certification.
  • Submit a completed Summer Fun application.
  • Be available to attend mandatory training June 2-5.
  • Be available to work from June 8 to July 17.

Applications are available at the Parks and Recreation website, Recreation Division office at 799 Pi‘ilani St. in Hilo and Hawai‘i County gymnasiums around the island.

Completed applications must be submitted or postmarked to the Recreation Division by Feb. 28.
