8 lane closures scheduled during week of Jan. 3-9 on Big Island state roadways

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following 8 scheduled lane closures and road work projects on Big Island state roadways during the week of Jan. 3-9.

HIGHWAY 11

HAWAIIAN OCEAN VIEW

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 70 and 83, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 5-9 for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strips, new striping and pavement markers.

PĀHALA TO NĀʻĀLEHU

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 50 and 60, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 5-9 for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strip, striping and permanent markers.

VOLCANO

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile post 27 and 30, in the vicinity of Haunani Road and Kīlauea Military Camp, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 5-9 for Hawaiian Electric installation of new powerline poles and lines.

HONOMŪ

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 12.3 and 12.8, from 8 a.m. Jan. 7 through midnight Jan. 9 for emergency zone work pavement repair.

PEPE‘EKEO

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 11.5 and 11.7 in the vicinity of Overpass Road and Cane Road, from 8 a.m. Jan. 5 and midnight Jan. 7 for emergency zone work pavement repair.

HIGHWAY 190

SOUTH KOHALA

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 12.2 and 16.4, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 5-9 for applying new striping.

WAIMEA

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 0 and 1 in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lālamilo Farm Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 5-9 for applying new striping.

HIGHWAY 270

KAWAIHAE

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 1.5 and 1.6 in the vicinity of Kawaihae-Māhukona Road, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Jan. 5-8 for installing speed humps and signs.
