REMINDER: Fire hydrant flow test slated for tonight in Honōkohau Harbor area

Residents in the Honōkohau Harbor area of West Hawai‘i are reminded that Hawai‘i County Department of Water Supply is conducting an overnight fire hydrant flow test tonight along Kealakehe Parkway within the Honōkohau Harbor property.

The flow test is scheduled between 11 p.m. and midnight tonight (Dec. 17-18).

Water customers along Kealakehe Parkway, makai of Queen Ka‘ahumanu, including all side roads and lanes, could experience slightly discolored and turbid water for several hours after the test.

They are advised to refrain from washing clothes and to store a container of water for drinking needs until the supply of water is restored to normal.

“Please pardon this temporary inconvenience,” said county Water Supply Department officials in their notification.

Anyone who experiences unusual problems during or after the flushing period should call district supervisors Joshule Johnston or Dustin Kaneta-Ogata at 808-322-0600.
