Hawai‘i Island police investigate dead body found near Kona businesses

Hawai‘i Island police are investigating the discovery of a dead body found near businesses in Kailua-Kona.

Kona patrol officers responded to the scene on the 74-5000 block of Kaiwi Street on Monday at 7:27 a.m., following a report of an unresponsive man in a grassy area. It was discovered that the man was dead.

“At this time, there are no indications of foul play,” Hawai‘i Island police reported. “The investigation is ongoing and is being handled by the Kona Patrol Division.”

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact of death. The person’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
