Update: Portion of Highway 190 reopens following crash on Hawai‘i Island

Update 9:40 p.m. Dec. 12, 2025: Hawai‘i Police Department reports that Highway 190 (Hawai‘i Belt Road) by Daniel Inouye Highway is open to all traffic.
Original post: A traffic crash has forced the closure of a portion of Highway 190 between mile marker 14 and Daniel K. Inouye Highway for the next hour.
With both lanes blocked, Hawai‘i Island police are redirecting traffic toward Waikōloa Road and Kaiminani Drive.
More information will be provided as it becomes available.
