University of Hawai‘i at Hilo will celebrate its summer and fall graduates during 2025 fall commencement ceremonies the morning of Dec. 20.

About 165 students represent the College of Arts and Sciences; Ka Haka ‘Ula O Ke‘elikolani College of Hawaiian Language; College of Business and Economics; College of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resource Management; College of Natural and Health Sciences; and Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy.
Commencement is scheduled for 9 a.m. at Vulcan Gymnasium on the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo campus, located at 200 W. Kāwili St. in Hilo.
The ceremony is limited to invited guests and not open to the public; however, it can be viewed via livestream on YouTube.
Student speaker is Danielle Murphy, who graduates with a bachelor or arts degree in sociology.
Coming back to school as a non-traditional student, Murphy shares that she approached her time at University of Hawai‘i at Hilo with resilience, compassion and a determination to lift others as she rebuilt her own path forward.
She has served with He Ho‘omaka Hou Ana O Puna, as president of the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo Sociology Club and the Healthcare-NOW consulting team through the Association for Applied and Clinical Sociology.
Murphy hopes to continue her education in psychology while working toward her “ridiculous dream” of creating a nonprofit integrating trauma-informed therapy, transitional housing and service-dog programs for veterans, survivors and vulnerable families.
