13 lane closures scheduled during week of Nov. 15-21 on Big Island state roadways

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following 13 scheduled lane closures and road work projects on Big Island state roadways during the week of Nov. 15-21.

HIGHWAY 11

HILO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 2.5 and 5, in the vicinity of Ahona Place and Ikaika Lane, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 17-21 for mechanical mowing and mulching.

KEAʻAU

  • SINGLE RIGHT-TURN LANE CLOSURE in the northbound direction between mile posts 5.6 and 6, before Macadamia Nut Road, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 17-21 for pavement marking maintenance.

PĀPĀ TO CAPTAIN COOK

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 96 and 113, in the vicinity of Kaʻohe Road and Trousseau Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 17-21 for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strips, new striping and pavement markers.

VOLCANO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 27.4 and 30, in the vicinity of Haunani Road and Kīlauea Military Camp, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 17-21 for Hawaiian Electric installation of new poles and power lines.

HIGHWAY 19

HAKALAU TO NĪNOLE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 16 and 21, in the vicinity of Leopolino Road and Kaihuiki Road, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 17-21 for mowing.

KAWAIHAE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 58 and 60, in the vicinity of Ko Uka Street and Ohina Street, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 17-21 for tree trimming and shoulder work.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 59 and 62, in the vicinity of Haleʻaha Place, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 17-21 for cutting grass.

LAUPĀHOEHOE TO ʻŌʻŌKALA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 26 and 29, in the vicinity of Moonlight Road, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 17-21 for shoulder work.

WAIMEA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 55.5 and 56.1, in the vicinity of Cheseboro Lane and Kamāmalu Street, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 17-21 for pavement marking to maintain centerlines and center turn lanes.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 56.5 and 56.7, in the vicinity of Pukalani Road and Lindsey Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 17-21 for installation of new traffic signal.

HIGHWAY 190

WAIMEA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0 and 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lālamilo Farm Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 17-21 for installation of new traffic signals.

SOUTH KOHALA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 12.2 and 16.4 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 17-21 for installation of striping, lane lines, turn pockets and direction arrows.

HIGHWAY 2000

HILO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0.5 and 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 17-21 for painting asphalt curbs and direction arrows.
