2025 Adopt-an-ʻOhana expands to brighten holidays for local families on Big Island in Hilo
Hawaiʻi nonprofit PARENTS Inc. wants to spread aloha and cheer for the holidays this year throughout the islands, so it launched its annual Adopt-an-ʻOhana holiday giving program — which now also serves families on Oʻahu and Hawai’i Island in the Hilo area.
This heartwarming program connects generous community donors with local families who could use a little extra support during the holidays.

PARENTS Inc. and its donors brought holiday joy to more than 90 children during 2024, providing gifts, essentials and a renewed sense of hope. The organization’s goal this year is to reach up to 200 keiki, offering them a warm and memorable Christmas.
“Each year we are deeply touched by the generosity of our community,” said PARENTS Inc. Oʻahu Supervisor Allie Morales in an announcement about the launch of this year’s Adopt-an-Ohana program. “By expanding Adopt-an-ʻOhana to the Big Island [Hilo area], we’re able to reach even more families and share the aloha spirit across the islands.”
HOW IT WORKS
FOR DONORS
- Individuals, families or businesses can adopt a local ʻohana by providing gifts or donations. It’s a wonderful way to share aloha and make a real difference this season. Donors are able to select which families they want to assist.
FOR FAMILIES IN NEED
- Families with children who could use some extra support this holiday season are encouraged to register as soon as possible. Participation is first-come, first serve.
PARENTS Inc. is dedicated to strengthening families through education, resources and community support.
