Update at 5:06 p.m. Oct. 30, 2025: Hawai’i Department of Transportation reported earlier this afternoon that work on the runway at Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport was complete and staff was doing final checks.

They were on target to reopen at 2 p.m.

If you have a flight into or out of the Kona airport today, continue to check with your airline for the latest information.

10:11 a.m. Oct. 30 update: Runway work at Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keahole is still ongoing despite plans to reopen at 10 a.m.

The reopening of the runway is now slated for 2 p.m., according to Hawai‘i Department of Transportation.
