Moms-to-be invited to enlist for first ‘Labor, Birth & Breastfeeding Bootcamp’

Queen’s North Hawaiʻi Community Hospital is now enslisting expecting mothers for the chance to get their boots on the ground before their tiny soldiers arrive.

The first “Labor, Birth & Breastfeeding Bootcamp” is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Waimea hospital, located at 67-1125 Māmalahoa Highway.

Cost is $80, which includes registration for the mom-to-be and one support person, lunch and the “Your Guide to Labor & Birth” book.

The daylong workshop is designed to empower expecting families with knowledge and confidence for the parenting journey they are about to embark.

An experienced registered nurse from The Queen’s Health Systems, who is also an international board-certified lactation consultant, teaches the class.

It covers essential topics including:

  • Stages of labor.
  • Breathing and comfort techniques.
  • Common interventions.
  • Postpartum recovery.
  • Newborn care.
  • Breastfeeding.

Participants will receive practical guidance in a supportive, respectful environment — whether they are a first-time mom or seasoned parent looking for a refresher.
