After completing 8 weeks of intensive training, nine recruits will be sworn in as adult corrections officers on Friday during a graduating ceremony at University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Performing Arts Center

The event from 1 to 2 p.m. will feature remarks from Hawaiʻi Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation leadership, including Director Tommy Johnson, and keynote speaker Hawai‘i County Council Chairman Holeka Inaba.

Families, staff of the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and facility wardens will also gather to celebrate this milestone.

Three months ago, eight adult corrections officers were added to the teams at two state corrections facilities on the Big Island after graduating from basic corrections recruit training.
