Business Monday: Popular acaí bowl shop among 27 turnkey businesses for sale on Big Island
Opportunities to take over a venture on the Big Island abound with 27 turnkey businesses, including eateries, shops, custom services and a coffee farm on the market, according to BizBuySell.
Among them is Hawai‘i’s famous Makani’s Magic Pineapple Shack, located in historic Downtown Hilo.
The eatery was featured in the Food Network magazine in 2017 as Hawaiʻi’s winner in its America’s 50 best over-the-top treats.

The shop, known for its colorful acaí blend with fresh fruit toppings, is for sale by owners, Lokelani and Cämu Wetzel, because they are moving off island. The asking price is $250,000.
“It is a staple, not only in Hilo, but also a Big Island attraction as well as a Hawai‘i attraction,” the listing on the BizBuySell website. “Countless travelers from around the world have traveled all the way to Hilo to come to Magic Pineapple shack.”
A Kona Coffee farm and home with a turnkey roastery business is also up for grabs, with owners asking $1.49 million.

Lions Gate Farms is a production coffee farm with a full wet mill and processing facilities, plus a commercial roastery on 5.5 acres in Honaunau, the heart of Kona Coffee country. The purchase includes two homes, multiple outbuildings, including the processing mill and equipment, and a thriving, profitable retail/wholesale coffee roasting and macadamia business.
“With a strong reputation for quality, built since 1993, the business comes with a fully developed client list in the Mainland U.S., Asia and Canada for both roasted and green coffee,” according to BizBuySell.
Kona Inn Restaurant and Kona Canoe Club, which went on the market at least two years ago, are both still available. Located in downtown Kona along touristy Ali‘i Drive, the eateries are being sold together for $1.3 million, a drop from $1.5 million. The restaurants can be sold separately.
Owners of the Orchid Land Surfboards in Hilo are asking $245,000 for their business, which was established in 1972.

This well-established surf and beach lifestyle retailer occupies 1,100 square feet in a vibrant storefront featuring curated surfboards, boogie boards, beachwear, swimwear, accessories, and locally made goods, according to BizBuySell. The shop attracts both residents and tourists who appreciate Hawaii’s authentic surf culture, with original branded merchandise worn proudly across the islands.
