Blood Bank of Hawaii is returning to Hilo this week for the last time this year.

The nonprofit will host a three-day drive from Tuesday to Thursday at 1373 Kīlauea Ave. Staff encourage the community to make an appointment and contribute to Hawaii’s ongoing blood supply needs.

The blood bank was able to meet its goals during the early summer months when donations typically drop. But need has increased at the end of the summer, and participation of local donors statewide is essential in ensuring that Hawaii maintains a steady supply of blood, according to a news release from the Blood Bank of Hawai‘i.

The three-day drive will take place on the following dates and times:

  • Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m
  • Thursday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
