Contractor Backyard Monkey is scheduled to begin the project July 8.

Its aim is improving park public safety by addressing trees that pose an immediate risk, requiring removal or significant canopy reduction.

The one-way portion of Lihiwai Street, between Keliʻipio Place and entrance to Isles, will be closed from 6 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. July 8-10 to accommodate the project.

Walking areas adjacent to this section of Lihiwai Street will also be closed while work is happening.

Access to Moku Ola, or Coconut Island, and Isles will remain open.

The project will transition to interior areas of the park once work along Lihiwai Street is finished. Signs and barricades will be set up to mark safety zones.
