Hawaiʻi Island residents encouraged to participate in community survey

Hawai‘i County officials hope to gain insight into residents’ needs through the Laulima Community Survey.

The anonymous online survey, which is available through July 31, aims to capture the voices and sentiments of residents. Led by the Department of Research and Development, the survey asks participants to rate important aspects of life in their communities, such as:

• Availability of affordable housing
• Employment opportunities
• Quality of education and healthcare
• Visitor impacts
• Public safety, and more.

“This survey is a chance for Hawai’i Island residents to share their thoughts and concerns about life in our communities — what is working, what is not, and what matters most to you and your ‘ohana,” said Mayor Kimo Alameda. “It only takes a few minutes, but your input can have a lasting impact on the direction of our island.”

The survey is repeated every four years, allowing the county to monitor trends and ensure policies and investments are aligned with the evolving needs and priorities of communities across the island.

Residents are also asked to give feedback on the county’s impact in their community and what they believe are the most urgent issues that need attention.
