Flood advisory issued for portions of North and South Kona

A flood advisory for portions of Kona is in place till 6:30 p.m.

At 3:17 p.m., radar indicated heavy rain over downslope portions of the North Kona District. Rain was falling at a rate of up to 1 inch per hour.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Kailua-Kona, Captain Cook, Hōlualoa, Kalaoa, Kahalu‘u-Keauhou, Honalo, Kainaliu, Kealakekua, Hōnaunau and Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport.

Impacts include minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams. Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
