A 27-year-old Puna man was charged today with assault in connection with a Friday stabbing incident.

Police said Brannon “Listo” Ramirez allegedly stabbed a 37-year-old Mountain View man following an earlier confrontation with the victim’s relative at a convenience store on Kahakai Boulevard in Hawaiian Beaches.

The incident began with a domestic dispute at Da Store between Ramirez and a 31-year-old Hawaiian Beaches woman. During the argument, Ramirez allegedly threw a beer bottle which hit a 19-year-old man in a parked van and then left the area.

A short while later, the mother of the man hit by the bottle and her relative, the 37-year-old Mountain View man, confronted Ramirez in Hawaiian Beaches, police said.

He was being held with his bail set at $11,000 pending an initial court appearance on Tuesday.
