Search continues for Hale Nani escapees
Hawaiʻi Island police are again asking the public if anyone can help locate two men who reportedly escaped Dec. 13 from the Hawaiʻi Community Correctional Center’s Hale Nani reintegration facility, located at 3200 Kanoelehua Ave., in Panaʻewa.
The escapees are:
- 31-year-old Clyde T. Loa. He is 5-foot-9, weighs 225 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.
- 41-year-old Kawai J. Pomroy. He is 6-foot-2, weighs 260 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.
Joseph Fernandez, a third inmate was also reportedly escaped at the same time as Loa and Pomroy, was captured Dec. 18 by police after he was located at an Ocean View residence.
Police are actively following up on tips from the public regarding the whereabouts of Loa and Pomroy, who both have active warrants for their arrest.
They have been reported to have been seen in Puna, Kaʻū and Kona.
Police caution members of the public not to approach Loa and Pomroy, but instead immediately contact police.
Hawaiʻi Police Department also reminds the public that harboring or concealing a wanted person can result in criminal charges.
