Woman charged in connection with Keaukaha burglary
A woman faces a burglary charge in connection with an incident last weekend in Hilo and was released from custody Monday.
The Office of the Hawai‘i County Prosecuting Attorney says 35 year-old Sarah King was arrested and charged in connection with an Oct. 26 burglary at a residence on Kalanianaʻole Avenue in the Keaukaha area of Hilo.
King was arrested by officers shortly after the incident when she was walking on Kalanianaʻole Avenue.
She was charged with first-degree burglary, a Class B felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison or 4 years probation and up to 18 months in jail.
King made her initial appearance Monday in Hilo District Court, where she was granted supervised release despite the objections of prosecutors.
She was ordered to appear Nov. 13 for a preliminary hearing.
The case was handled by Hawai‘i Police Department South Hilo Patrol Officers Joshua Rodby-Tomas, Krimson Abilla and Andrew Springer.
It is being prosecuted by Deputy Hawai‘i County Prosecuting Attorney Ha‘aheo Kaho‘ohalahala.
