UPDATE at 11:40 p.m. Oct. 12: Hualālai Street in Hilo between Ululani Street and Kapiolani Street is now open. 

Original story posted at 5:13 p.m. Oct. 12: The Hawai’i Island police have closed Hualālai Street between Ululani Street and Kapiolani Street in Hilo and urge vehicular and pedestrian traffic to use an alternate route. No further details were provided.
