No injuries reported following structure fire in North Kona

No injuries were reported following a structure fire in Hōlualoa Friday night.

Hawai‘i Fire Department responded to the blaze on Hua‘ai Street at 6:16 p.m. When they arrived on scene, the 1,718-square-foot home was fully involved with flames and heavy smoke visible through the roof.

The two residents were not in the house when crews arrived.

Sixteen firefighters attacked the fire. Company 7 personnel entered the home through the front door and all other crews assisted in stamping out the flames outside.

The fire was out about an hour later and crews remained on scene for salvage and overhaul till 9:22 p.m.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The damage is estimated at $300,000.
