Big Island lane closures announced for week of Aug. 3-9

The Hawai’i Department of Transportation has announced its Big Island lane closure schedule for the week of Aug. 3-9.

Note: the schedule can change at any time without notice, and all projects are weather permitting.

— KANOELEHUA AVENUE/MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 11) —

1) HILO

Right lane closure in the northbound direction, between milepost 0.003 to 0.26, in the vicinity of Banyan Drive, Aug. 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for tree trimming near Hilo International Airport.

2) HILO (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure possible in either direction, between milepost 1 to 3, in the vicinity of East Lānaʻikaula Street and East Palai Street, on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

3) HILO

Single lane closure possible in either direction, between milepost 7 to 9, in the vicinity of Old Volcano Road and North Road, from Aug. 5-9, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

4) PĀHALA (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 51 to 52, on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for grass and vegetation cutting.

5) PĀHALA

Single lane closure possible in either direction between mile post 51 to 54, on Monday, Aug. 5, through Friday, Aug. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for grass and vegetation cutting.

6) KEALAKEKUA (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 110 to 112, in the vicinity of Nāpōʻopoʻo Road and Puʻu Pueo Road, on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for tree trimming.

— HAWAIʻI BELT ROAD (HIGHWAY 19) —

1) HILO (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 2 to 3, in the vicinity of Bayfront Highway, on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for storm ditch and spillway cleaning and clearing.

2) HILO TO PĀPAʻIKOU (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 3 to 6, on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

3) PĀPAʻIKOU TO HONOMŪ

Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 6 to 13, in the vicinity of Old Māmalahoa Highway, on Monday through Friday, Aug. 5-9, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting with rear and side units.

— MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 190) —

1) KALAOA

Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 31 to 33, in the vicinity of Mākālei Golf Club and Old Government Mauka Road, from Aug. 5-9, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for shoulder work.

— KEALAKEHE PARKWAY (HIGHWAY 197) —

1) KAILUA-KONA

Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 0.17 to 0.40, in the vicinity of Kamanu Street from Aug. 5-9, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for paving of new bike lane and signage installations.

— DANIEL K. INOUYE HIGHWAY/SADDLE ROAD (HIGHWAY 200) —

1) HILO (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 17 to 22, on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for vegetation removal from shoulder.

2) HILO

Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 17 to 22, from Aug. 5-9, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for shoulder work and vegetation cutting.

— KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (HIGHWAY 250) —

1) WAIMEA

Single lane closure possible in either direction, between milepost 6.2 to 10.6, from Aug. 5-9, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for application of permanent striping as part of the Kohala Mountain Road Resurfacing project.

2) HĀWĪ (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure possible in either direction, between milepost 17 to 18, on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

— ʻAKONI PULE HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 270) —

1) WAIMEA (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure possible in either direction, between milepost 2 to 5, on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for tree trimming and shoulder work.

2) KAPAʻAU (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure possible in either direction, between milepost 13 to 15, in the vicinity of Mahukona Park Road, on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

3) KAPAʻAU

Single lane closure possible in either direction, between milepost 14 to 19, in the vicinity of Kapaʻa Park Road and Ilina Road, on Aug. 5-9, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting with side and rear units.

— PUAINAKO STREET (HIGHWAY 2000) —

1) HILO (NIGHT WORK)

Single lane closure possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, Aug. 5-9, from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving the roadway as part of the Puainako Street Widening Project.
