Kalapana transfer station to be open twice a week

Residents of the Kalapana area in Puna will have an additional day to take their rubbish to the transfer station beginning this week.

Beginning July 10, the Kalapana transfer station will be open twice weekly from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Hawai‘i County is making the move earlier than expected in an effort to improve services. The county is committed to maintaining high-quality and efficient solid waste services for all communities on the Big Island.
