Police seeking missing 17-year-old Hilo runaway

Hawai‘i Island police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 17-year-old Shaiana Tavares-Unea, who was reported as a runaway.

Tavares-Unea was last seen on Maikalani Street in Hilo on Friday, June 21, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m.

She was last seen wearing a black jacket, jeans, and sandals.

She is described as Hawaiian, with a tan complexion, 5-feet and 3-inches tall, 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Police ask anyone with information on Tavares-Unea’s whereabouts to call the police department’s non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311 or contact Officer Kaeo Eggers at kaeo.eggers@hawaiicounty.gov.
