Structure burns down in Ocean View, cause unknown

The Hawaiʻi County Fire Department reported finding an approximately 1,000 square foot structure fully engulfed in flames in Ocean View on Monday evening, May 20.

The structure was 250 ft. down a steep driveway from a roadway at 92-8873 Leilani Pkwy and was reported to be a total loss, totaling $30,000.

The address online is listed as vacant land, according to a listing on real estate company Redfin.

There were no occupants inside at the time of the fire and no injuries, fatalities, or rescues were reported.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.

According to the report, the Hawaiʻi Police Department is aware of the owner of the property and has been notified of the situation.
