A flood advisory issued for portions of West Hawai‘i

A flood advisory was issued for North Kona till 3:45 p.m.

At 12:39 p.m., radar indicated heavy rain over downslope portions of the North Kona and South Kohala Districts. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 1.5 inches per hour.

Some locations that will experience flooding include: Kailua-Kona, Waikōloa Village, Pu‘uanahulu, Puako, Kalaoa, Hōlualoa, Pohakuloa Training Area, Honalo, Kawaihae, Kahalu‘u-Keauhou, Kamuela, Kohala Ranch, Waikōloa Beach, Mauna Lani, Waiki‘i and Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport.

Minor flooding is expected on roads, poor drainage areas and in streams. This advisory may need to be extended if flooding persists.
