With a focus on “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace,” the Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center’s monthly lunch-and-learn series features interesting speakers discussing topics related to communication, dispute prevention and resolution, and transforming conflict.

This month’s speaker is Kimberly Dark on the topic “When Ideology Blocks Action: Name It, Discuss It, and Act.”

“One important barrier to equity is the gap between ideology and implementation,” said Kimberly.  “This often comes up as a battle between ‘traditional values’ or ‘the way it’s always been done’ and equity and inclusion practices which seek change, or create discomfort for some.”

In this talk, participants will discuss how ideologies of inequity can be deeply embedded in both institutions and individual behaviors – and what you can do help.

Ku’ikahi’s Brown Bag Lunch Series is free and open to the public.  Attendees are encouraged to enjoy an informal and educational talk-story session and connect with others interested in “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace.”
