Police presence at Waiākea High School following reported threat to student over social media

Hawai‘i Island police are at Waiākea High School today after a student received a threat over social media.

Hilo officers received a call Wednesday at 10 p.m. from a parent reporting the threat against their teen by an unknown person. While the identity of the individual is still unknown, police will stay on campus throughout the day.

Hawai‘i Island police have initiated first-degree terroristic threatening investigation, which is being handled by the Area I Juvenile Aid Section.
