Big Island warrant sweep in conjunction with several law enforcement agencies leads to numerous arrests
Numerous Big Island people were arrested this week as part of a warrant sweep by several law enforcement agencies.
The Hawai‘i Police Department, in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Service Hawai‘i Task Force, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations, Hawai‘i Department of Public Safety Sheriff Division, Hawai‘i Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement and investigators from the Hawai‘i County Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, conducted a joint operation primarily in East Hawai‘i during the past week.
The following people were arrested:
- 38-year-old Kiel Kawika Brende of Kea‘au was charged with violation of parole terms and conditions and criminal contempt of court. He was detained without bail pending his initial court appearance.
- 21-year-old Derick Clayson Kaohuikaulunahele Camacho of Captain Cook was charged in a grand jury indictment warrant with first-degree robbery, second-degree burglary, second-degree theft, attempted unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle and two counts of kidnapping. His bail was set at $250,000.
- 43-year-old Waylon Thomas of Hilo was charged with summons or arrest of defendant on probation; commitment without bail; and failure to appear. His bail was set at $5,150.
- 35-year-old Matthew Logan Ryan of Mountain View was charged with two counts of revocation, modification of probation conditions. His bail was set at $100,000.
- 32-year-old Pomaikai M.K. Martin of Hilo was charged with two counts of violations of conditions of release on bail, recognizance or supervised release. His bail was set at $10,000.
- 40-year-old Lavaun Francisco Broad of Hilo was charged with violations of conditions of release on bail, recognizance or supervised release. His bail was set at $2,000.
- 33-year-old Garrett Hughes of Kurtistown was charged with two counts of violations of conditions of release on bail, recognizance or supervised release. His bail was set at $2,000.
- 31-year-old Danisha Kapua‘okaleianuinui Yagong of Hilo was charged with criminal contempt of court. Her bail was set at $1,000.
- 39-year-old Jarrett Kupiialii McAtee Jr. of Pāhoa was charged with criminal contempt of court. His bail was set at $1,000.
- 23-year-old Kawai Keiori Kahee of Pāhoa was charged with violation of terms and conditions during deferment. Her bail was set at $2,000.
- 42-year old Marlene Hamilton of Pāhala was charged with violations of conditions of release on bail, recognizance or supervised release. Her bail was set at $10,000.
- 49-year-old Christian Earl Alameda of Kea‘au was charged with two counts of violations of conditions of release on bail, recognizance or supervised release. His bail was set at $4,000.
- 39-year-old Anthony Romero Gonsalves of Mountain View was arrested for ownership or possession (firearm) prohibited. He was released pending further investigation.
In addition to the above people arrested during the operation, the following people who had also been sought by police were recently arrested:
- 39-year-old Jake P. Branch of Hōlualoa was charged with five counts of summons or arrest of defendant on probation; commitment without bail. His bail was set at $75,000.
- 47-year-old Aaron Leighton Nobriga of Mountain View was charged with three counts of discharge of sureties and two counts violations of conditions of release on bail, recognizance or supervised release. His bail was set at $17,000.
- 27-year-old Andrew Amon of Ocean View was charged with criminal contempt of court and had a warrant for his arrest for second-degree robbery. His bail was set at $5,500.
According to the Hawai’i Police Department’s release, 20-year-old Cherish Anela Torres of Pāhoa was also arrested as part of the sweep, but no charges were listed for her. Torres’ bail was set at $6,000.
