Mazie Hirono, Ron Kouchi to moderate live-streamed Hawai‘i on the Hill Policy Summit
On Wednesday, U.S. Senator Mazie K. Hirono and Hawai‘i State Senate President Ron Kouchi will moderate a live-streamed “Hawai‘i on the Hill Policy Summit” all the way from Washington, D.C.
Hirono (D-HI) and Kouchi (Kaua’i, Ni’ihau) will share hosting duties with Sherry Menor-McNamara, the Chamber of Commerce Hawai‘i president and CEO. The Policy Summit will feature Congressional leaders and members of the Biden-Harris Administration, who will provide insight on a variety of issues important to businesses in Hawai‘i and across the country. It will be live-streamed here.
The Policy Summit is part of the seventh annual Hawai‘i on the Hill, a partnership between Hirono and the Chamber of Commerce Hawai‘i. It is a three-day event that gives members of the Hawai‘i business community the opportunity to meet directly with Congressional leaders and Administration officials, while also showcasing Hawai‘i businesses and products to members of Congress, their staff and the D.C. community.
This year, more than 200 individuals representing more than 40 Hawai‘i businesses are expected to attend.
Hirono and the Chamber of Commerce Hawai‘i will also host the Taste of Hawai‘i on Capitol Hill. The event provides members of Congress and their staff the opportunity to experience and learn more about Hawai‘i’s unique culture through cuisine, music and more.
Some of this year’s exhibitors include: Hawai‘i Farm Bureau; Hawaiian Chip Company; Kaua‘i Kookie; Koloa Rum; Lappert’s Hawai‘i; Maui Brewing; The Orchid Lei Company; and the University of Hawai‘i.
On Thursday, the Chamber of Commerce Hawai’i will join Hawai’i State Senator Jarrett Keohokalole (Kāne‘ohe, Kailua) in hosting “Kamaʻāina Career Connect,” a networking event for Hawai‘i residents currently living in Washington, D.C. who are interested in returning to Hawaii for work.
The event provides the opportunity to meet with Hawai‘i employers in industries including defense, tech, cybersecurity, engineering, and more.
