The Hawaiʻi Fire Department is establishing a temporary fire station in Hilo while the Central Fire Station undergoes long-overdue repairs.

The temporary location will be at 1382 Kīlauea Street and be in operation beginning this summer.

“This temporary fire station is necessary to ensure that we can continue to respond to emergencies in a timely and effective manner,” Hawaiʻi Fire Department Fire Chief Kazuo Todd said in a news release.
