Central Pacific Bank releases 2022 Environmental, Social and Governance report
In honor of Earth Day, Central Pacific Bank has released its Environmental, Social and Governance report for 2022, showcasing the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
The report highlights the positive impacts the bank has made to mitigate the effects of climate change and sea-level rise while maintaining a high level of integrity.
The bank has taken a leading role in sustainability and implemented green practices across its organization. Central Pacific Plaza, the home of its flagship branch and headquarters, has received 16 consecutive Environmental Protection Agency Energy Stars, the most of any building in Downtown Honolulu.
Some of the key highlights from the Environmental, Social and Governance report include:
- Support of diversity: 91% of its workforce is ethnically diverse, 57% of managers are female, 31% of the Central Pacific Financial Board are women, two of the five members of the executive committee that oversees bank operations are women, supports women-owned businesses with WE by Rising Tide program for women entrepreneurs, sponsor of the Honolulu Pride Festival, held by Hawaii’s LGBT Legacy Foundation.
- Central Pacific Bank is at the forefront of Hawai‘i based companies in its energy efficiency and actively supports the use and installation of photovoltaic systems, energy saving amenities and sustainable agriculture.
- Prioritized lending to renewable energy companies and in 2022 provided nearly $100 million in financing to customers to install residential photovoltaic systems.
