Queen’s North Hawai’i Community Hospital announces student volunteer program
Queen’s North Hawai’i Community Hospital in Kamuela unveiled a summer volunteer program tailored to high school and college students who are seeking a meaningful way to spend their summer, or who may be interested in pursuing a career in the healthcare industry.
The summer volunteer program is open to college students and high school students ages 16 and up.
The program entails a four-week volunteer commitment during June 5-30 or July 3-28, with three shifts per week lasting 5 to 7 hours per shift.
The hospital will provide all necessary training. Available assignments include lobby screening, patient escorting, comfort rounding, work in the hospital’s outpatient clinics, supply department, nutritional services and even gardening.
Julia Ramos, fund development and volunteer program manager, said: “This is a great opportunity to learn more about the exciting field of health care while contributing to our local community.
“It has never been a more exciting time to volunteer in a hospital, and this gives our young people a great introduction into this rewarding field.”
