No tsunami threat to Hawai‘i following Central America earthquake

The Hawai‘i County Civil Defense Agency has issued a Distant Earthquake Information message for Tuesday, April 4.
The agency notes the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has reported an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 that occurred at approximately 12:23 pm HST in the area south of Boca, Chica, Panama, in Central America.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center confirms there is no tsunami threat to the island and State of Hawai‘i.
