Puna woman sentenced to 10 years in prison for methamphetamine charges

Sheena  Kaepekaa Andrews, also known as Cheena Andrews, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for possession and attempted distribution of methamphetamine, according to Hawai’i County Prosecuting Attorney Kelden Waltjen.

At the time of the commission of the possession and attempted distribution of methamphetamine, Andrews, 37, was on probation for felony drug crimes. 

Andrews entered a “guilty” plea on Dec. 12, 2022 to two felony offenses, including second degree promoting of a dangerous drug and second degree attempted promotion of a dangerous drug. 

“Today’s sentencing demonstrates our office’s commitment to hold drug dealers accountable for poisoning our community,” Waltjen said in a press release. “We will  continue to prioritize the prosecution and investigation of those who distribute dangerous drugs, including methamphetamine, fentanyl and heroin.” 

The investigation was handled by the Area I Vice Section, Hawai‘i Police Department.  The case was prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Elyssa Correia Keltner.
