6.8 magnitude earthquake near Vanuatu; no tsunami threat to State of Hawaiʻi

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reports a 6.8 magnitude earthquake occurred at 8:05 a.m. on March 2 near Vanuatu.
The warning center confirms there is no tsunami threat to any of the Hawaiian Islands.
The quake, which was reported as magnitude 6.5 by the U.S. Geological Survey, struck 59 miles west of Luganville and 10 km below the earth’s surface.
