Firefighters extinguish Valentine’s Day structure fire
Hawai‘i firefighters extinguished an early-morning blaze in Hilo this Valentine’s Day.
First responders found a two-story residence on North Kulani Road fully engulfed in flames when they arrived at about 5:39 a.m.
The approximately 1,684 square-foot building with three bedrooms and one bathroom was vacated and its owners are currently unknown, according to a report issued by the Hawai‘i County Fire Department.
The report states the structure’s corrugated iron roof collapsed and was then removed while firefighters confirmed the blaze had been extinguished.
The Hawai‘i County Fire Department has not yet announced a probable cause of the fire or estimated the total cost of property damage.
