Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualālai on Big Island to open PGA 2023 season
Hualālai Golf Course will against host the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualālai this year, kicking off the 2023 PGA Tour Champions season. Rounds tee off Jan. 19 and will continue through Jan. 21.
“We are thrilled to once again kick off our season at Hualālai with our proud partners at Mitsubishi Electric,” said PGA Tour Champions President Miller Brady in a press release. “This marks the 27th consecutive year that PGA Tour Champions has been able to launch our season at this course, a testament to the tremendous work the Four Seasons Hualālai do in hosting this event.”
Tickets will be available at the gate, which opens at 9 a.m. each day of the tournament. Fans can purchase a daily ticket for $25 or a three-round competition pass for $45. Kids 16 and younger get in for free with a ticketed adult. Free spectator parking will be available at the resort.
During each of the competition days, free spectator shuttles will continuously loop between the parking area and Spectator Village until 6 p.m. Fans will have access to concessions, seating, restrooms and plenty of aloha spirit at Spectator Village, which also will have a live scoreboard and will be in close proximity to Holes 1, 2, 4, 9, 10, 14 and 15-18.
“This looks to be another great tournament for the Big Island community,” said tournament manager Kelly Fliear in the press release. “We are excited to host Big Island residents and visitors for a birds-eye view of our legendary golf greats, including Fred Couples, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk and our event’s only three-time winners, Bernhard Langer and defending champion Miguel Angel Jimenez.”
All three rounds of the 2023 Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualālai will be televised live Jan. 19-21 on GOLF Channel. Player commitments and other tournament news for the 2023 event will be released in the coming weeks.
