High surf advisory issued for north-facing shores
The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for the north-facing shorelines of Hawai‘i Island to include the areas from Upolu Point in North Kohala to Cape Kumukahi in Puna for a North swell through Sunday.
The advisory is in effect till 6 a.m. on Monday. NWS reports surf building to 10 to 15 feet.
Impacts are expected to be moderate with strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
