Hernandez-Herbach, Graneld Named KTA Super Stores Superstars of The Week

Two University of Hawai‘i at Hilo athletes stood out among the competition to earn honors as last week’s KTA Super Stores Superstars of the Week.

Senior Alexander Hernandez-Herbach and junior Filippa Graneld were named superstars for their performance on the soccer field.

After contributing on a pair of goals in the Vulcans season opener, Hernandez-Herbach got one of his own Sept. 12, with a fourth-minute header against Cal State Monterey Bay to give the UH-Hilo men’s soccer team the early lead.

Graneld totaled seven points through three games last week, netting a pair of goals Sept. 8 against San Francisco State then another goal and an assist in the Sept. 12 match between the UH-Hilo women’s soccer team and Regis.

KTA Super Stores highlights one male and one female Vulcan athlete each week as its Superstars of the Week. The award honors the athletes’ stand-out accomplishments and highlights from the week prior.
