The University of Hawai‘i at Hilo women’s soccer team opens its 2022 season Thursday, Sept. 1, with a matchup against Cal State East Bay on O‘ahu at Chaminade University’s Saint Louis Field.

“We’re just hoping to execute on everything we worked on the last three weeks,” said seventh-year women’s soccer head coach Gene Okamura in a press release about Thursday’s season opener. “It’s the first game, so we’ll see what our team is made of.”

The game starts at 10 a.m. and will be hosted by Chaminade. To watch the game online, click here.

The Vulcans squad, 2021 Pacific West Conference Co-Champions, features 18 returning players and 12 newcomers this year. The women’s team was voted No. 2 last week in the preseason coaches poll and also has four players selected to the All-PacWest Preseason Team.

Thursday’s game is part of a four-game road slate to start non-conference play. Next week, the Vulcans have three games in five days before playing at home Sept. 17. For a complete schedule, click here.
