High Surf Advisory Issued for South-Facing Shores
A high surf advisory is currently in effect for south-facing shores of all islands till 6 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service, a south-southwest swell built larger than expected late Sunday afternoon and evening, leading to advisory level surf for south-facing shores. The large surf will continue into this afternoon.
Surf is expected to be 7 to 10 feet. Impacts are anticipated to be moderate. Beachgoers should expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
